It’s hand-brushed lacquer painted yellow over dark greys. It also involves using some underpainting to augment our finish. But the finish is simply amazing!!

In this video, I’m going to share the most stupid and most risky paint finish I’ve attempted so far. You get one shot at making it look cool or it will be a total mess. It’s Yellow. It’s hand-brushed lacquer painted yellow over dark greys. It also involves using some underpainting to augment our finish.
We will prime the model, add our main detail color, block in our base camo color, realize that I didn’t really really fix all the seam lines, do an in-progress repair and recovery, and then resume painting with the distressed Dark Yellow main camo color.
Why did I do it? My last model was a full airbrush finish so I wanted to flip the switch and go full hand brush for the change and somehow “early versions” of Ma.K units feel very authentic to me when done in this visceral style.
As I share more developed, later versions of the Großerhund and I will mix up my style, paint types, and color choices to match. Just for fun and it’s something I really get a kick out of personally.
Oh, and if you find the smell bothersome, make sure you’ve got plenty of ventilation and mask up if you want to. It’s not atomized as it will be from an airbrush but it still is an organic solvent, please take care of yourself. Yes, I often wear this mask whilst painting, both with airbrushing and hand brushing with solvents.
