Linc’s Current Top 10 Sci-Fi Kit Buys!!

Hello friends, I’d like to share the simple way I get ALL my Sci-Fi kits. I really do buy all my own stuff. Yes I could reach out vendors and they might send me “free stuff” but… let’s just call it what it is … Mojo Zapping Obligations. Haha! I’d much rather buy it and build and paint stuff in my own way and at my own pace.

Free is never really “free” and I’m happy to pay these wonderful folks for the joy they bring me.

So let me tell you about a kind of set and forget way of keeping it simple and I probably save loads of money doing it too.

Just this past weekend, a friend reached out on Instagram and asked if “$180 Aussie was a fair price?” for a WAVE “Nixe” kit in a shop?

Here’s the one I made recently so I kind of take some responsibility for the awareness of it… (please click on the image to view to the Gallery and Video content for this model)

Yeah but… a hundred and 80 dollaroos is just KERAZY INSANE and even going further, I feel it cripples the fun aspect of these kits because there is NO WAY I would be making them and doing silly experiments on them if that’s what they cost.

So I shot back to my friend, “Dude, get this one, the Melusine. Currently selling via pre-order for… equivalent of just $40AUD. Mate, get 3 and it ships FREE compared to buying that one and the money is more directly actually going back to the maker plus they get an accurate estimate of how many kits are selling new and directly.”

My friend also let me know that place was also selling a Krote variant for over $600 AUD. Just wow right? They are not that precious nor rare at all, we just need to align ourselves to get them at the right time and mitigate the shipping costs.

So by way of example, here is exactly what I have on my pre-orders or recently purchased lists right now, plus a couple more that I am also working on soon in case you want to build them along with me.

Two Sets of full disclosure for you. First here are the screenshots of my orders just in case the other items give you ideas and to show I really do buy this stuff myself.

Second is that I’d like to thank my good friend, let’s call him Zack (because that’s his name) for the heads up on using HLJ affiliate links. It adds nothing to the price we pay but they will pay me a couple of Yen for each purchase. This makes Linc smile as we are getting some money back from Big Retail. Costs you and I nothing more.

Yes I checked for you, they are available or at worst backordered so you get in on the waiting list. We only pay within they get the stock in, I’ve done it loads of times.

The statuses will change after I post this of course, don’t beat me up!

Here are my current Top 10 Suggestions for Sci-Fi purchases. Yes, it's heavily Ma.K focussed but hey, I just really like the stuff!

  1. The 40th Anniversary Falke Box. Yes of course I bought this and it will be Falke #6 for me.

2. New WAVE Melusine - this will be a big hit and is a much get. Yes I added 2 to my cart.

3. Macross Regult kit. Wait Linc, do you even Macross? I do now!

4. This Raccoon suit is a classic. You will be glad you got this - I bought 2 - at this regular retail price.

5. Powerdolls 1/35 Armor. Yes I want to bring that retro Takani san box art to life! You might recognise his style, yes he did all those cool 60s and 70s original Tamiya AFV box art too.

6. Bullseye Valkyrie Kit. It’s Macross and it’s a Big Green Mecha. Of course I have this coming!!

7. It’s some weird new variant of the Grosserhund so of course I got this. Linc Grosserhund book much right!?!

8. Nutrocker - yes this is a great kit and I want to pretend that I will be a proper armour modeller one day. With this kit and scale, I can keep the pipe dream alive plus I really want to share how I do my Ma.K Winter finishes.

9. Have planned a little diorama with a cool theme with 2 of these 4 legged Sturm Kafer kits, perfect for the stash.

10. Camel - My current Master Class with Lin.K series is on this kit. A classic of classics.

Then I check “Private Warehouse” and ship by Surface. Each 60 odd days and I have a nice big box of joy in roughly 6 weeks.

Then get my paints, tools and supplies locally.

There’s a handful of places selling these, just go with what you prefer. For me, the Private Warehouse option is the deal maker. I click and forget and the magic happens!
